Castling- Castling is not technically considered an opening moved but is usually performed early enough in the game that some have counted it as such. Castling occurs when neither the king or the rooks have moved from their initial positions and the pieces in between them have been moved to other squares. The king is moved two spaces toward the rook and then the rook is placed on the opposite side of the king. It is the only move in the game where you can move two pieces in one turn. This move keeps your king protected behind a barricade of pawns.
Two knights- In this opening strategy both knights are put into play without moving a pawn. They are moved two squares forward and turned toward the center of the board to give them placement in the center board. For a beginner however it may (and almost always) means losing at least one of both of their knights.
The Queen’s Gambit- This play happens when the king’s pawn and sometimes the queen are moved two spaces forward. This allows the queen to enter play easily; generally considered an offensive opening and can leave pawns unprotected. If you lose your pawns you also put your king in jeopardy of being taken.
Learning chess opening stratagem can take a lot of time and preparation on your part, but it can definitely be worth it if you win the game.
