There are many different chess strategies available to chess players. Beginner will often have different strategies than the advanced players as strategies differ depending on how much you have played the game. Here are some chess strategies for advanced players.
Strategy #1: A strong opening
A chess opening is a group of initial moves otherwise known as “opening moves. ” A strong opening can be sometimes the best strategy for any player let along an advanced one. There are dozens of different opening strategies that vary from aggressive to less aggressive plays. Sometimes the opening strategies have taken up to a half an hour to finish, which might give you an idea of what a good opening strategy can do for the rest of your game. Professional and advanced players spend years studying opening and will continue to improve and change their strategies to stay ahead of their opponents. A good opening strategy will do at least for very important things:
Development
Give you control of the center board
Provide safety for your king
Give more structure to your pawns
Strategy #2: The Invisible attack
If you’re not quite the chess champion you hope some day to be, but still want to look like one then give this chess strategy a shot. This strategy is used by beginner, intermediate, and advanced players. This attack is just what it claims to be; invisible. They’re not used very often so your opponent is caught off guard. This attack is also referred to sometimes as the “pin and fork ” attack. The coolest part about this strategy is that instead of attacking just one piece you can attack two of your opponent’s pieces.
Strategy #3: Don’t waste your moves
As an advanced chess player understanding the importance of every move is crucial to winning or losing. It’s extremely important not to waste any of your moves even if you think “it’s just one pawn. ” Every piece of the chess board is important and you should never underestimate the importance of each piece. A wasted move is any move that doesn’t strengthen your position. So make sure you look at your pieces carefully and where you place them, because wasting a move can set you back and lead you down the road to defeat.
Strategy #4: Holding pieces hostage
Even advanced chess players find themselves in sticky situations. The strategy of holding pieces hostage can help get you out of those situations. As is the game of chess, your opponent will at many points during the game be attacking one or more of your pieces. So when it happens don’t give up; learn to fight back by holding your opponent’s piece hostage. Place one of their pieces at the same risk that they have placed yours. They may or may not choose to take it, but you will at least be able to retaliate for whatever happens.
Strategy #5: Controlling the Center of the board
Being in control of the center board is a great strategy because it allows you to be able to attack your opponent and gives you more space to maneuver. Getting control of the board center really opens up your options.
Chess strategies for advanced players does not differ a whole lot from intermediate or beginner strategies. Chess requires thinking about your strategy and taking early control of the game.
